100 Years of Excellence

A Hundred Years of Excellence is a collection of essays and articles designed to commemorate the centenary of one of the most distinguished secondary schools in the whole of West Africa, the Prince of Wales School in Freetown Sierra Leone. Opened by the then Prince of Wales on April 6, 1925, this prestigious institution was the first government secondary school in Freetown and it was the first school in the whole of Sierra Leone to emphasize the teaching of Science and Mathematics. It therefore attracted students not only from Freetown, but also from the whole of Sierra Leone and even other West African countries, and it was therefore responsible for the production of most of the doctors, engineers and scientists in Sierra Leone
